The Tavern on the James in Scottsville, Virginia was the location. The site was very nice and the food outstanding. Chairman Shaw called the meeting to order. Announcements about the sites and cleanups and the need for someone to be the ice vendor for the festival. Other people spoke about the Virginia Canals & Navigations Society publications and memberships. Batteaux launch from Percival’s Island to begin the 2017 James River Batteau Festival!

Crowds formed along the bank of the island. The day was cloudy and the water a brown cast from recent rains.  Jeff Taylor was on the bank to announce the start of the festival once again. Many old friends reunited and last minute preparations on board the boats were nearly complete. All the finest old-timey outfits were nice and clean for the start at 11:00 am.  The batteau Maple Run shot off a cannon to get things started! "Fire in the Hole"....BOOM! and a big cloud of smoke. Most of the batteaux are in the water and on Friday afternoon several more arrived and were launched from Rucker Landing at Rivers Edge Park in Amherst County, VA. Many long time batteau friends were gathering by the river with handshakes and hugs! Gail Timberlake and the batteau Ladies Slipper were getting the boat ready. Tireless James & Fall Meeting for JRBF held at Howardsville – Sept. 12, 2014

The 2014 "Tireless James" event was held between the Wildlife Management Area down-river from Wingina, to Howardsville. Several Batteaux participated in this event which was sponsored by the James River Association. There were a lot of tires removed from the river that day! Good job everyone!!! Later in the evening the annual meeting of the JRBF was held at the Howardsville campsite owned by Mr. Jimmy Crews. A nice fire was in the center of the ring as everyone gathered around to hear Chairman Ralph Smith announce several items of interest to JRBF participants. Ralph Smith, JRBF Chairman will continue on through the 2015 JRBF, the 30th annual. James River Cleanup from James River State Park Boat Ramp to Wingina to be on Sat. August 17th!

Calling All River People to help cleanup the James River on August 17 2013, and high water make up date Sept 07 2013. In conjunction with the James River Association (JRA – Upper James River Keeper, Mr. Pat Calvert), there will be an James river cleanup from the boat ramp at the James River State park to Winginia. This is an approximate 5 mile section of the river. This section is for Batteau People. The JRA is also sponsoring other sections from Lynchburg to Richmond's Reedy Creek that same day. More info to come. The JRA has always done river cleanups close to Richmond, but Mike Neal, Capt. of the  batteau Rose of Nelson has convinced the JRA to come up stream!!
