Slate River was calm and clear Friday morning. The sun peaked out over the top of the trees and the view over the point was beautiful. Up-river a short distance at a private boat ramp were several batteaux tied off and people still sleeping. The sun creeped up on to them as the morning started.
The ice man came and Wayne Clayton was already up and shuttling to Cartersville and getting ice while many people were still sleeping! Can’t slow down Wayne as he was ready to go!
The boats gradually started to leave and there was a decent breeze. Hopefully they will have a wind at their back to push on to Columbia and on to Cartersville today.
