The Slate River site was busy with the local Masonic Lodge members preparing Catfish dinners and Hamburgers and Hot Dogs to sell for dinner. A dark cloud and bad storm warnings were seen and it rained for a while. I was lucky to get a boxed Catfish dinner to take to the truck while it was raining. The fish was fantastic and also the home made baked beans and coleslaw. Thank you Masons!
Batteau spirit was alive later in the evening as one man said he would allow his chest to be shaved all in fun in a fundraising effort for the festival. A crowd gathered around and all sorts of comments were to be heard. I’m not sure what they raised for the JRBF, but they said someone was matching the funds.
The evening was nice and cool. The rain had cleared out and the sun came out. Very nice evening at Slate River.
