The Lynchburg Launch of the 2012
James River Batteau Festival was a huge success!
The weather was beautiful. Jeff Taylor announced the boats departing and the crowd on the beach was pretty big this year! On the parking lot of Percival’s Island there were many booths displaying historical information such as the Virginia Canals & Navigations Society and many others. There was a string band playing, food for sale and activities for children of all ages. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the day, even the nice tan police dog!
Enjoy the photos above from Sat. am. Starting at the James River Float Company in Amherst County, then Percival’s Island and the batteau leaving and then the activities at the parking lot.
See you in Galt’s Mill tonight!
